The Department of Information Technology is recruiting for qualified and energetic Systems Analyst I candidates to help support and operate the City's IT Cyber Security and additional networked services, including, but not limited to, business applications, databases, client/server platforms, networking, security, and end-user device management. These positions report to the Datacenter or Enterprise applications areas. Incumbents work a City of Stockton 9/80 schedule: 7:30 am to 5:30 pm Monday through Thursday; 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Friday, with alternating Fridays off. May be required to work additional hours and/or weekends to provide project or operation support. Systems Analyst I is the entry-level class in the series, requiring a basic background in systems development, operations, and programming with analytical and diagnostic skills. The incumbent performs the more routine tasks associated with the position while learning the specifics of the City’s hardware and software systems, programs, and related policies and procedures.
Education/Experience: Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or a closely related field. OR Current enrollment in the last two (2) semesters/three (3) quarters of a Bachelor's degree program in an accredited four (4) year college or university with major course work in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or a closely related field with a minimum of 30 or fewer units needed to fulfill the graduation requirement. Candidates will be placed on the eligible list and certified under Civil Service rules subject to the candidate presenting proof of graduation by way of official transcripts or diploma before the official hire date. OR Possession of an Associate of Arts degree or completion of sixty semester units or equivalent quarter hours from an accredited college or university with course work in pre-engineering, mathematics, computer science, or a closely related field AND two (2) years of experience in systems operation or administration. OR Possession of a high school diploma or GED AND four (4) years of experience in systems operation or administration. Other Requirements: Must possess a valid California Class C driver’s license in order to work at remote user sites. May be required to pass an extensive background investigation, which includes a fingerprint clearance.
