Chief Information Technology Officer
The North Carolina Board of Nursing is seeking applicants for the position of Chief Information Technology Officer (CIO). This position functions as the chief information officer, responsible for directing all Information Technology operations to support and align with the North Carolina Board Nursing’s mission, vision, legal mandate, and strategic plan. CIO is responsible for the planning, implementation, and management of all facets of the Board’s technology vision through the development, deployment, and maintenance of a variety of Information Technology Systems and products. This is a Senior Leadership position with a focus on strategic planning, application development, data governance/business intelligence, and cybersecurity.
Successful applicants must have proven management skills with the ability to lead a team of employees and vendors to deliver innovative, reliable, and sustainable IT systems, programs, work products and services to achieve departmental and organizational performance goals and objectives in a collaborative environment. Applicant must have extensive experience in technology budgetary preparation and effective execution; exceptional interpersonal and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to plan and execute projects within established timeframes and budget.
Applicants must have a broad and comprehensive knowledge of information techology systems operations, characteristics, features and integration capabilities; extensive knowledge of data processing, hardware platforms; software applications; technical experience with systems networking and security, database management, application development, data governance, business intelligence, and cloud computing. Knowledge of computerized financial accounting systems to include both revenue and expenditure functions and reporting. Must have the abilities to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders of external nursing community audiences, organizational leaders, as well as, both technical and nontechnical internal staff. The individual selected for this position must possess excellent critical thinking skills; have strong communication skills both verbal and written and the ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Information Management Systems, Computer Science, or Business-related degree with Management Information Systems orientation and holds current certifications in applicable areas of technology. Master’s degree in Information Technology or Computer Science is preferred, or Master Degree in Management Information Systems (MIS)
Experience: Actively engaged in senior level management in information technology for a minimum of 7 years to include application development; data governance; business intelligence; financial and business management systems; knowledge and experience with Cloud computing and managed IT infrastructure vendors. Experience in business results reporting from both a financial and a quality improvement framework.
Both education and experience must be sufficient to meet the responsibilities of the position. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. This position is in Raleigh, NC and is on a hybrid schedule.
